After Henley Royal Regatta, the UK rowing calendar is still packed. Depending on your level, junior, club, university, masters, or international there are plenty of major regattas and championships running through July, August and into September.
Henley Women's Regatta
Usually held the weekend before Henley Royal. The UK's premier women's regatta, featuring club, university, junior and international crews.
British Rowing Club Championships
Often regarded as the national championships for club crews. Side-by-side multi-lane racing. Events for juniors, seniors and masters.
Henley Master's Regatta
Established in 1994, Henley Masters Regatta is held on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the second weekend in July, which is the week following Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames. Henley Masters Regatta became a three-day event in 2026, allowing more crews to come and compete on the iconic Henley course!
Local Regatta's
They include Kingston, Molesey, Reading, St Neots, Marlow (depending on the season). These are ideal for crews looking to race after Henley.
August is one of the busiest months for domestic racing.
Highlights include: Henley Town & Visitors Regatta, a relaxed but competitive return to the Henley course. Maidenhead Regatta, Oxford City Royal Regatta, Warwick Regatta and Tyne Regatta
There are also many regional regattas nearly every weekend across the country.
Elite athletes may also be targeting: World Rowing World Cups, European Championships, World Championships and the Under-23 and Junior World Championships. These usually take place across July and August.
As sprint regattas wind down, endurance and autumn racing begins.
Popular events include: Great Ouse Marathon, RoWindermere, Chester Long Distance Sculls, Cambridge Autumn Regatta and Worcester Autumn Regatta.
These events bridge the gap before the head race season starts in October.
Many clubs also enjoy: Club tours to Europe (Ghent, Amsterdam and other rowing festivals), Summer training camps, Masters regattas and Coastal rowing and beach sprints, which continue to grow in popularity in the UK.
Overall, although Henley Royal is often seen as the pinnacle of the British summer rowing season, it is far from the end. Club crews often target the British Rowing Club Championships, while many athletes continue through a busy programme of local regattas in August before transitioning into long-distance racing and the autumn head season.
