Valentine's Day, celebrated on February 14th, is a day dedicated to love and affection, named after Saint Valentine, a Christian martyr. It has become associated with expressing love, whether romantic or platonic.
The 14th November is also notable for the St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1929), a notorious event in Chicago, where seven members of a rival gang were killed in a mob hit and the Founding of the League of Nations (1919), the precursor to the United Nations.
